Comedian Churchill: Why I Blocked Uhuru, Raila from My Show

Kenya's celebrated comedian Churchill Ndambuki has revealed why he politely declined requests from President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition leader Raila Odinga to attend his 'Churchill @ 40' show on Friday.

The event was held at Kenyatta International Conference Center (KICC) in Nairobi on Friday to celebrate the veteran entertainer's 40th birthday and featured performances from a number of Kenyan comedians who have flourished under Churchill's mentorship.

“Uhunye (Uhuru) wanted to attend but I asked him not to and explained why,” said Churchill. “The same case was with Rao (Raila),” added the veteran comedian and radio host, whose real name is Daniel Ndambuki.

Speaking during an interview with Nairobi News , Churchill said he blocked two political rivals from attending the event because “…with the situation still volatile in the country and as things seems to be, my event won’t be an ideal place for them because they will steal my moment.”

Why can't you say you want your show to be neutral. Where anybody can come and have fun.

I have never bothered to watch this show but that's just me - not sure what Uhuru or Raila are missing out on

It can be a good show but the volume is out of whack. Sometimes it gets so loud gives you a headache and the microphones are wanting. Surely, he needs someone who should manage that. I enjoy listening to "Tisha Wanjiku" or something close to that.

I think Ndambuki made a good choice. His show is watched all over and its best to be neutral

With all due respect there is a pinch of self aggrandization here. Think about presidency vs comedy, show vs country, leadership vs career. You cannot be greater than the expressions of your heart. Bottom line is, those are our leaders, this is your show-Modesty and confidentiality should be important in showbiz as well.

Wacha uongo Churchill. Ati Uhuru called to ask if he could attend your birthday? I doubt if he even knew there was one. Prove it.

Wacha wivu kanisa mlima is more popular than your kamwana and it was his day he did not want a bunch of unruly people from Central spoiling his day nor did he want any shenanigans from NASA he knows to keep his nose out of politics unlike some companies who are now paying big time.Congrats Churchill you deserve it at 40 not accumulating wealth through land grabbing or becoming a tenderpreneur like a certain community.
