Comedian Eric Omondi Erects Giant Billboard Outside JKIA to Welcome His Italian Fiancée Back to Kenya

Kenyan comedian Eric Omondi has erected a giant billboard near the exit of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to welcome his Italian fiancée back to Kenya.

Opening out about the billboard, whose image has since gone viral on social media platforms, the entertainer said he partnered with a Chinese digital service firm to have the billboard mounted at the exit point of the JKIA to welcome his fiancée, Chantal Graziolli, who had been out of the country for five months.

“These things are not really extraordinary. If you are able to do these things, do them,” he told eDaily.

“I planned the surprise for two months. I hunted for a billboard which was at an exit point from the JKIA. I needed one which was at a high traffic area. The Chinese Digital service provider had placed their advert on a billboard, which I had deemed to be on a very strategic spot. I reached out to them and they liked the idea, which saw us partnering,” said Eric Omondi.

“I opted for the billboard placement because it is a move which, until then, had not been pulled by any couple in Kenya. I’d initially thought of placing the message on a screen at the airport, unfortunately there are no screens at the JKIA, which left me with no choice but to go the billboard way. I wanted to welcome Chantal to Kenya after five months of being away in Italy,” said Eric Omondi.

Omondi has some advise for Kenyan men who might be tempted to copy his idea. “I have seen men on social media claiming I set the standards so high for them, and that their partners would, probably, want a similar treat. What I can say is that that was Eric Omondi doing his thing. He can afford it. Men should not feel pressurized into hiring billboards to relay their love messages to their partners. People are different; and that is why there is Eric Omondi, Jonathan Otieno, Alfred Mwangi, we have wazungus, Africans… People are different. So, I am not asking people to do what I did,” said Eric Omondi.

“I am happy she (Chantal) is home,” concluded the comedian.

He declined to reveal how much the whole stunt cost him.

This left me with mixed feelings, for which I could not put a finger on what was making me uncomfortable and what I liked about it. So... I think it is a romantic gesture if he can afford it, why not? Lakini the message of his life being promoted....not sure if he means she made his life better just for being there/their life/children. etc.. or is my skeptic side ticking as I interpret this to mean coz she is a jungu? Alafu, that snap.....thought she is Italian? Looks more like Mwajuma, Amina or mchanganyiko maalum. Could be my squint....

It doesn't matter whether Italian, Caucasian, Hispanic or whatever. Once you have them in your home, it matters no more. They become like everyone else. So, no point of rocketing to the moon for this. It's ordinary.

Good that somebody got paid to do that job. Chantal Graziolli will be happy to see the big welcome. That being said, Omondi how much have you invested/saved for your future if you intend to marry her?

  13. Guest1Jan 19, 2018

He could be Investing with In-Laws in ITALY or Central Kenya instead of Nyalgunga. If you know what I am saying; and how Screwed he could be getting / or could be Screwed at the End.

Its a high time Kenyans realize how they waste their money by supporting some comedians. Guys go to this Mans shows and by the time they leave, they cannot afford rent for the next month. Be ware you can see where your money is taken. I attended one of his shows in NJ in support of a Kenyan brother, though I did not enjoy the show at all.
@nani? put it right.... A fool and his money are soon parted.

Ano. Comedians are Anti-Depressants for the Depressed. And Kenya has a Fast Growing DEPRESSED Clientele.

@Sokora, of course it doesn't matter what race anyone is or get married to (until of course they turn and call you/your clan a sh*&!hole!), I was just amused how the jungus try their hardest to be black whilst black people try to emulate their white counterpart, all in the name of being accepted! I have nothing against Mr & Mrs Omondi, each to their own. He likes his chocolates milky and I prefer the darker version...still chocolate underneath no matter the coating and as far as I know, gives the same satisfaction (although some may refute this), so, it's all a subjective taste. Get my drift or do you need to be educated about this?

  17. sokoraJan 19, 2018

I get your drift. No more education. My point is, brother Omondi would have been wiser. All are cut from the same fabric regardless of whether you are speaking of Njung'o, weusi, asians, etc.

If this is what he's doing now, how much will he spend on the wedding and honeymoon? He better be able to sustain her for the long haul, otherwise? I have learned in my many years on this earth that everything in moderation. I recall Safaricom CEO, Bob Collymore, throwing a wedding party where people ate, drunk and danced - simple wedding for someone who earns ksh14million a month! None of this dog and pony show.

What all of you don't realize is that Erick Omondi is a business man. If you thought like one you would notice that the billboard was sponsored by Star-times which means they paid for most of the bills to erect that billboard, moreover this is a marketing tool for Erick Omondi to get the attention of everybody flying in and out of the country. But since you are so poor in mind the only thing you see is the girlfriend(and by the way whats wrong with Erick parading his girlfriend for all to see). Style up and stop behaving as if he is the reason you cant afford to take your girlfriend even for a mare dinner.
