A video of daring robbers snatching a phone from a traffic police officer in Nairobi has gone viral on social media.

The video shows the officer manning traffic at Roysambu roundabout on Thika Road before a motorbike carrying three men emerges.

Upon reaching where the police officer is standing, the motorcycle slows down before one of the pillion passengers stretches out his hand and grabs the cop’s phone in a flash.

The officer, who was on a call, appears confused and attempts to run after the robbers but gives up on realizing he cannot catch them.

The video clip ends showing the officer resuming his duty in what some social media users termed as “swift acceptance of what had happened.” The brazen theft was recorded on a motorist’s dashboard camera at around 5:00 pm on Tuesday.

The video elicited mixed reactions, with online users describing the incident as one of the most daring stunts Nairobi robbers have engaged in the recent past. Kenyans online condemned the incident, wondering what the criminals would do to civilians, who have no security training or armed like police officers.

Last week, Nairobi County Police Commander Augustine Nthumbi said a multi-agency team had been deployed to deal with rising crime cases in Nairobi.

Incidents of kidnapping, mugging, and robbery with violence have been on the rise in the city in the recent past.

Those Kenyans who are womdering what the criminals wouild do to civilians who have not secutity training, you are too late. Crooks have been stealing phones from unsuspecting civilians for quite sometime. Its only that it never gets captured on camera. Some of you may recall not too long ago some police station had a picture parading ahost of stolen phones...

This shows the levels of insecurity in Kenya.
But, No police officer has come up to RECLAIM their phone..Right? Common sense dictates that this cop was just MILKING or preying on Matatus. I don't think he was on duty, but all of us know that the BIG CATS deploy them to the streets for a fee.

I'm sure the other boda boda operator will get it for the cop. These riders know each other. No need to report a silly game to the police boss.
