Lawyer Says Kenyan Accused of Killing a Man in Leesburg, Virginia Believed He was Stabbing the Devil to Save the World

The lawyer of a Kenyan accused of killing a man in Leesburg, Virginia in November 2021 says his client believed he was stabbing the devil in an attempt to save the world.

23-year-old Melvin Wasike of Fairfax County is charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, aggravated malicious wounding, and breaking and entering while armed with the intent to commit murder.

He is accused of killing 46-year-old Michael Fadely, and stabbing his fiancée at their home in Newton Place, in the Barclay Woods community, south of Leesburg.

During a preliminary hearing on Thursday, the court was shown CCTV footage of Wasike coming to the couple’s home three times the day before Fadely was killed.

Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office deputy told the court that Wasike claimed to be looking for someone at the residence and was ordered to leave the area, and not trespass again, Loudoun Now reported. Fadley declined to press charges against Wasike as long as he never came back, the deputy said.

The following morning, Wasike stormed Fadely’s home via the front door, fatally stabbed him, and wounded his fiancée Laura Munoz with a butcher knife, according to investigators.

On Thursday, the accused’s attorney Robert Whitestone told the judge that his client was schizophrenic, was hearing voices, and believed he was stabbing the devil in an effort to save the world. Whitestone said he is planning an insanity defense for Wasike.

“My client thought he was God and was stabbing the devil and saving the world,” lawyer Whitestone said.

Despite traveling from his home in Fairfax to Leesburg, Wasike had never met or interacted with Fadely, according to testimony in court.

In his ruling, District Court Judge Matthew Snow said there was enough evidence to find probable cause, and sent the case to the grand jury. If he’s indicted, Wasike would face trial in Loudoun County Circuit Court.

There is a very good chance that he is mentally ill. Incidentally, Cannabis does not cause violent outbursts, the only thing these users assault is generally a bag of chips. Your nose will also get victimized by the skunky stench if the users were just getting baked.

Both are worse if not treated by schizophrenia is very debilitating disease causes severe symptoms. Bipolar causes mood swings from depression to manic phase. It affects changes in energy, mood and activity levels. People diagnosed with bipolar do experience hallucination and delusion.
Schizophrenia is a result of abnormal imbalance between serotonin and glutamine affecting how one thinks, feels, and behaves. The individual suffers from delusions, hallucinations and paranoia. Diagnosis is usually in late teens or early thirties.

How to tell if someone has mental issues? Look at their eyes...eyes don't lie no matter how much you try to act normal, your eyes will always tell on you.Praying for both families, this is life changing and mental disorders are real and only white people are getting treatment, the rest of us just pray and hope for the best.

In tonday’s campaign meeting, savage Raila told Kakamegans that he will will employ Oparanya for them if they voted for him.I was surprised that most of them who are unemployed were very happy that he will represent in EATING/LOOTING.And after reading Wasike’s murder charges,I concluded he killed Fadely for cannibalization by his Gisu & Bukusu communities.

I really don't know much, but like the MjuAji I have ever been, sympathize with the Kenyans parents in the USA. The mentality and mindset we all have that anything evergreen is good for the gender, is an illusion. Why? Although not all young people derails from the societal expectations, the wave of American peer pressure is overwhelming to these young and vulnerable souls. The American culture that seemingly appears in a glass mirror like there is freedom out there, is tempting. And it is not only a detriment to the youths, but to adult too. I have watched old men and women stupidly drowning themselves in alcohol, then get behind the wheel. Then things happen fast. States like Virginia, West Virginia, Texas, N. Dakota, S.Dakota, N. Carolina, Alaska, Wyoming, Utah, Arizona, parts of PA are a preserve for white supremacists, worse so for a black boy: a no-go-zone for people of color. As watch this sick child get toasted by these one-sided justice, and go down the gallows, my heart bleeds. He is somebody's child, brother, buddy, or classmate. Lets pray for him.

American culture is dirty weird wicked violent not for everyone. Not for Africans definitely. Coming from freedom to a super legalistic racist culture is tough. A Kenyan took out his family to Australia from America due to violence.

Maî Mahiū guy should remember Kenya is worse than all the US states you mentioned.Kabogo,Wanjiru,Joho,Mainas(Njenga&Kamanda),Ndura,Owino,Raila etc are examples of licensed killers in Kenya. What can you say about Raila,Kenya’s known murderer whose methanol distribution center has been Maî Mahiû for years?Remember you pay muchawi Raila billions for cannibalizing 1300 innocent Kenyans in 07/08PEV.Why do Kibaki and Uhuru sign for Kenyans and muuaji Raila for killers in peace pacts instead of enforcing the law?

Mental health knows no borders or any mad given subdivisions. While not disputing your perspective I think your generalization is a misrepresentation of the reality. Such incidents have been recorded worldwide irrespective of whatever class the offender hailed from. Most mental health issues can be managed holistically, medical or through therapy. I’d bet on my loved one having a better chance of beating or at least managing their MH. Imagine trying to figure out who to bribe to get a legit help for a loved one.

You are definitely delusional or suffering from some mental illness yourself. Everything you said is fabricated. With all its flaws, USA still remains to be the greatest country on earth!

When I see a KENYAN diasporan in Dreadlocks, I see a Person to Dread; or a Person looking for Prison LIFE; from the Frying pan of the US to the Fire.

  15. Dread ManMar 27, 2022

@Guest 1, Complete uninformed and Incompetent imbecile you are. What has dreadlocks got to do with this young man’s crimes? Mental illness is real and the moment you realise it you will stop your 2 piece judgemental being

  16. MūndūmūgoMar 28, 2022

So which Caucasian approved hairstyle do you recommend? Keep in mind, nywele sio shida. If this young man has mental health issues, a new hairstyle or living in Kenya would not change anything.

Mental health issues are real folks.
Unfortunately, they are rarely diagnosed. Only after this kind of stuff happens do we realize that one of our own is suffering.

  20. TausiMar 31, 2022

🙆🏾‍♂️ ni mental health issue. But you cannot judge by how someone chooses to represent themselves and say ndio sababu.. or lack of. Too bad while dealing with his personal demons a life was unfortunately taken that cannot be brought back. 😢

You do the crime you do the time.
