Kenyan Woman Desperately Looking for Her Son Who Disappeared in the US

Kenyan Woman Desperately Looking for Her Son Who Disappeared in the US

A Kenyan family is appealing for help to find their kin, who was reported missing in the United States.

Joshua Mbira Wanene, 38, last communicated with his family members about two years ago, and efforts to trace him since then have been futile.

His mother Margret Wanjiru Wanene, who lives in Limuru, Kiambu County, says her son started exhibiting mental health issues in 2003 and was put on medication by a doctor in Nairobi and his condition improved.

In 2012, Wanene, his wife, and one child relocated to the US via a green card and they settled in the state of Washington.

The man continued taking medicine prescribed by a doctor in Nairobi and his mother would buy the drugs in Kenya and send them to her son in the US.

Life went on well in the US and Wanene and his wife were blessed with their second child, but things changed when he felt he had recovered and stopped taking the drugs.

His mother says Wanene’s condition worsened after he stopped taking medicine to an extent that he tried to commit suicide by swallowing poison.

The man was then taken to a hospital for treatment, and when he was discharged, he decided to leave his wife and children to go and live with his sister in Tacoma, Washington.

Wanene lived with his sister for some time but they apparently disagreed on something and he took his luggage and left. That was the last time the family saw and heard from him as he appears to have changed his phone number.

His mother said her son was well when he traveled to Kenya in 2017 to attend his father’s burial, where he even read the eulogy.

Wanjiru, who is ailing and distressed, says her only wish is to find her son and has appealed to anyone who may be aware of his whereabouts to contact the family.

God, help the man be found and restore him back to health.

In the line of work I do, the saddest instances are when a Kenyan is picked up by police and brought to us because he went over the edge. I am now beginning to see Kenyan women in these circumstances.

Rotten really hit the nail on the head. I once lived for 2 months in an apartment complex full of undocumented Kenyans. Wewe! I did not know we are like that. These people were even jealous of my American-born kids. I swore from that day on that I will never be around Kenyans and that is now 23 years ago as of this writing. If I hear a Kenyan accent I run as if the police are chasing.

  8. MūndūmūgoApr 13, 2022

That is sad to hear. Might I suggest a method I use. Meet those who have no issues with makaratasi and don't need your money. Avoid any who have investment opportunities or fundraisers of dubious value. Banish any and all who come with their hands out for cash. No matter the story, assume it's a lie.

  9. Kenya.Apr 14, 2022

@MakOnyango, that sounds like an illusions. 2 months and you know the whole apartment complex is full of undocumented Kenyans. You must be full time gossiper. Where did you get all the time to listen to tittle-tattle?

  10. MakOnyangoApr 15, 2022

Kenya, you are a good example of why I avoid Kenyans and always will. You've already started spewing venom. You are probably an underprivileged Kenyan here in the US or somewhere in Kenya.

  11. Kenya.Apr 15, 2022

@MakOnyango, you must be a full time gossiper. In a matter of 2 months as you have stated in your previous statement. You knew everybody business. You are trying to make yourself look better but you are worse. If you mind your own business you would not know what your neighbors in your apartment complex are saying.

  12. MuriithiApr 15, 2022

Most Kenyans in the diaspora have this inborn jealousy because of that silly Africanism mentality that your brother is your worst enemy if he is doing better than you. Some do not want to work hard to amass anything but again they are jealous of those who do.

I used to invite Kenyans over to my house for dinner, etc but I put a stop to that because of stupid ndomo and jealousy. African generally have deep scar issues of jealousy. And this runs deep in most Kenyan families. It’s the reason you see relatives in Kenya stealing from their own from the diaspora.

Rotten you sound like you are about to lose it yourself. You have a lot of experiences with those you call negroes back in your motherland. They must have stolen everything you have so hard worked for wiping poop in America. Did they sell you a piece of new plot called “AIR” and took off to Indian Ocean to cerebrate with Manjini? Calm down dude and visit a church near you for some hand our help.

God really needs to specifically help @rotten because he is really getting rotten deep to the core. You can smell his rotten stench a mile away. He is gone psychotic; he lost his inner self long time ago. He needs to reconnect with his mother wherever she is in the huge world. He is 😛 crazy and 🥜 nuts.

Wonder if the sister has exhausted all options searching for him that way the great hearted Kenyans can know where to start from?

I pray this mother will get her wish.

Feminazi rule the world. A woman only comes for land, kids and ya money. Its sad when a man sees a woman nowadays from a far and sees money running away from his pocket

  23. TheuriApr 13, 2022

When Kenyan women arrive in America, the first thing is to drive the husband 🥜 nuts and 🍌 bananas. He may have run away from his wife because she was making him go crazy. Then went to live with a sister who demanded he pays part of rent, water, electricity and trash collection. Boy, the melting pot ain’t a joke. But at least he should contact the mother to give her some peace of mind and a few dollars, if at all he can hold a job! He may be training to get himself together financially. America can drive anyone 😜 crazy 😝 if you are not careful. All the same, I hope munene is found soon and given some help.

But once they hit 40 45 they realize everyone else has a house and husband and security of a lifetime and no one wants mitumba anymore. She has to work and be a cougar dating a useless guy who she pays to keep him. She works so hard to make him happy. Karma is a useful bitch!!

  25. ChuruApr 14, 2022

Women do not plan that far. They think of now and not tomorrow. So they star running after small boys when they get too wrinkly, old, and broke. But at this they can only play a Sugar mama role with bad memories of their past mistakes. Then bitterness toward all men kicks in.

  31. ChuruApr 15, 2022

Now @Tausi - you know that truth hurts. I really love them sisters because I need them when it comes to matters down yonder (there, there…)! I haven’t found an alternative to that nice stuff…

But most sister are just like Maua maua ya Leo tu bila future plans. The others wanajirenga thinking the physical beauty appearance will always be there to attract men while forgetting the beautiful ones are yet to be born.

  32. MaxileyApr 16, 2022

@ Chure, sure there is a "replacement" or if you prefer , asubstitute. She is cheaper in the long run, does not complain, you can go down there as you put it as much as you want. She does not tire. She is " Samantha".

@Guest1 I have no idea what you said in that lingo, but you invoking God there I would think that its good...I have to suppose that your God knows where this fellow is,and if so why not do the right thing and tell his loved ones? You seem to have a kind heart. Isn't that what you would do?
If the family can afford a PI, that's the way to go... Not sure how long it will take God to step in...Guest1

@mundumugo! What if Wanene did not want others to know where he is currently residing? It’s good you are helping those in kenya but by the same token wanene may be hiding from them until he can get things in order.

  41. JesseApr 13, 2022

I will be going to the underworld pretty soon! If you see my relatives looking for me, please don’t help them! I can’t support the whole village anymore. I’m done!

  43. MūndūmūgoApr 13, 2022

Not sure if this is him but if you're willing to spend a little cash you can verify. He really doesn't appear to be hiding. More like not wishing to communicate.

  44. GathecaApr 13, 2022

Now you have hit the nail squarely on the head! Don’t we all feel like we don’t want to communicate sometimes especially when shit start getting a bit too thick? I feel like going under sometimes especially when others are planning on my next dollar before I earn it🥸😂🙌👋🦜🇰🇪🥦🐖. Don’t you @mundumugo???

  45. MūndūmūgoApr 13, 2022

I decided a long time ago that I would only ever help my mother. She had a major hand in my being on this planet. Everyone else has hands, feet, eyes and a brain just like me. The one word many of us fail to use is NO!!! Use this word liberally and don't explain why. One last thing, even your mother said NO to you when she could not afford yes or to teach you something - hard as it is, return the favor sometimes. You owe it to yourself and your dependents.

  46. GathecaApr 14, 2022

I am now going back to school to ask my English teacher how to use the word “NO”, and the actual meaning of “NO” in the English Dictionary”.

And how do you get over the guilt trip when you are consistently reminded that “oh we sent you to America to help the rest of us?” Food prices have shot up and the ts been too hot for anything to grow.

One thing I have learnt is that Gatheca is the last priority to those who demand to be helped. No one really thinks about you back home and even they don’t care how your future turns out.

@mundumugo - I will now look at the mirror and start practicing how to use the word “NO” to my benefit. Otherwise I will soon be going the Wanene way of silent communication. This Donkey is tired carrying the heavy load!

  47. WereApr 13, 2022

Folks back in kenya can make a relative in the diaspora go crazy with endless cash demands. They think one has a dollar tree in the backyard where money flows like honey in the Amazon Basin.

Munene, just call your mama and let her know Kimeumana in America. Tell her the truth and ask her not to expect a lot from you. Also losing a Dad can cause depression to someone who had mental issues. It’s hard enough to be a boy child in this world.

Please munene call your mother and tell the real truth about your present situation. She will still love you and you will feel better as well.
