Kenyan Man Strips Naked and Makes a Daring Run from Immigration Summons in Zambia

Kenyan man Moses Makari caused quite a stir at a Magistrate Court in Isoka, Northeastern Zambia when he stripped naked and tried to escape after being brought before the court.

On Thursday morning, an unexpected event occurred when Makari was arrested for not appearing at the immigration offices to answer inquiries about his stay in Zambia. As stated by Zambian Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga, the man was a detainee who had been moved from the Isoka Correctional Facility to the court. In a surprising turn of events, upon reaching the destination, he suddenly removed his clothes and swiftly ran away from the parked vehicle.

Without delay, police officers swiftly pursued him, creating a stir that left bystanders in disbelief. Despite his utmost attempts to flee, the officers promptly caught the man. Regrettably, amid the chase, he sustained two deep cuts on his right leg after stumbling over metal sheets. He was promptly transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

Following the required medical treatment, the Makari was later transferred to Isoka Police Station, where he will be held until his upcoming court hearing. It should be noted that Kenyan residents visiting Zambia must have a valid passport, and depending on their reason for travel, they may also need to obtain permits. It is essential to possess a valid passport, regardless of the length of the stay. As stated in the Immigration and Deportation Act of 1965, individuals without a valid permit in Zambia may be arrested, detained, and sent back to their home country by immigration officers.

Causes for deportation encompass noncompliance with temporary permit rules and posing a prospective threat to the citizens of Zambia. Upon being informed to vacate Zambia, individuals are furnished with information about the authorized path for departure and the timeframe for exiting before the government intervenes.
