Five Nigerian Illegal Immigrants Arrested in Nairobi's Lucky Summer Estate

Police in Nairobi have arrested five Nigerian citizens as the crackdown on illegal immigrants continues across the country.

The five foreigners were arrested at an apartment in Nairobi's Lucky Summer estate for being the in the country illegally.

Police said the immigrants were nabbed after locals reported that they were engaging in illegal activities. They will be arraigned in court on Monday.

The latest arrests brings the total number of foreigners arrested in the operation to more than 200 even as the government maintains the swoop will continue amid protests from right groups.

Last week, Amnesty International warned that the operation to flush out illegal immigrants from the country might spark xenophobia.

The agency particularly expressed concerns over the hotline number launched by the Immigration Department for Kenyans to report suspicious foreign nationals.

"This approach is likely to ignite xenophobia against foreign workers, refugees and asylum seekers," said Seif Magango, Amnesty International's deputy director for East Africa.

On Saturday, the National Police Service urged foreigners in the country to always carry their identification documents to avoid getting in trouble with authorities.

    AFRIKA MPYA:

Imara: Presence in Kenya without proper so documentation is criminal. Would you make similar argument if those arrested were Al Shabaab? I would not think so!

Good job Matiangi. Nigerians and Somalians illegals are threat to the national security Kenya. Nigerians in Kenya are engaged in massive scams, rapes, murders, vondoosim and other evils. Kenya does not need Nigeria and Nigeria does not need Kenya. It should be like that!!!. Nigerians coming to Kenya comes for the sole purpose of committing crimes. Smart countries shut their doors on Nigerians long time ago. Why should Kenya keep its door open to these evil people?

  4. KenyaSep 2, 2018

Correct @Dr. Koni Hanene. Nigerians are bringing drugs in Kenya and marrying Kenyan girls to use them in their drugs deals
