Five Nigerian Immigrants in Court to Block CS Matiang'i from Deporting Them

Five Nigerian nationals have filed an application in court seeking to block Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i from deporting them.

The immigrants want the court to suspend their impending deportation pending hearing and determination of the case they have filed.

The five; Munirudeen Adedamola Safu, Aliu Adewale Safiu, Fatai Oshodi, Musa Odeyoyis, and Oluwafemi Akinmoyero are staring at deportation after they were declared as prohibited immigrants.

The foreigners argue that they are at risk of being illegally deported, terming it a gross violation of their rights under the Constitution of Kenya and rules of natural justice.

They further submit that they have lawfully complied with all the regulations of the law and are in possession of alien IDs as well as valid work permits issued by the Immigration Department.

They have named CS Matiang’i, Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government, Director of Immigration, Attorney-General, Directorate of Criminal Investigations and Officer Commanding Station Kasarani Police Station as respondents in the case.

“In the exercise of the powers vested in me by Section 33(1) (d) of the Kenya Citizenship and Immigration Act 2011, do hereby declare that the entry or presence of the five is unlawful and they are members of a prohibited class and immigrant," a declaration by Matiang’i states.

Nigerians learn and learn quickly. They have seen how big shots in Kenya have used the courts to subjugate the justice process by jumping the gun and seeking courts protection against arrests and all manner of things! The sometimes vague and liberal laws are to blame for this circus. They should be accorded fair hearing and natural justice but not a blanket protection that a common citizen can only dream of, read or watch on TVs or local soap opera. At this rate and to be ahead of their game security and enforcement agencies need to employ the best brains they can get, czars and die-hard patriots.

Why resist deportation? Nigeria is supposed to be the richest country in Africa with an ocean of oil underneath it. Go back to Nigeria and leave Kenya alone. Kenya does not want you, Kenya does not need you!!!. Why are you in Kenya in the first place? What are you doing there? Kenya does not need Nigerian Cassava the only thing Nigeria produces. Neither does it need Nigerian oil. We have plenty of it in Turkana County. Nigerians, stay out of Kenya!!!

This guys know what they'll be missing if they were to be deported! All the corrupt deals & drugs that involve hundreds of $$ in Kenya make them feel like they've been denied an opportunity of their life! I would also fight for those rights if I was in their shoes!

How are they supporting themselves. We have no jobs for foreigners unless they are doing legit businesses they should and must leave. The same applies to these Chinese why does Kenya have to be the dumping ground for all these foreigners maybe South Africans do not want their country to be like Kenya sometimes xenophobia has its merits
