USCIS to Demand Reimbursement from Sponsors if Immigrants Use Government Benefits

The Trump administration is warning immigrants that the person who signed their affidavit of support in their green card application process will be responsible the government if the immigrants receive welfare benefits prior to them becoming US citizens.

In a tweet on Friday, the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) reminded immigrants that the Affidavit of Support “is a legal and enforceable contract between the sponsor and the federal government. The sponsor must be willing and able to financially support the intending immigrant as outlined by law and regulations.”

“If the sponsored immigrant receives any federal means-tested public benefits, the sponsor will be expected to reimburse the benefits-granting agency for every dollar of benefits received by the immigrant,” added USCIS.

The financial obligation of the affidavit of support ends when the immigrant becomes a US citizen, or after 10 years of full time work as a permanent resident.

President Donald Trump in May signed a memorandum that directs federal government agencies to update their regulations to comply with a federal law that prohibits non-citizens from receiving government benefits paid for by US taxpayers.

That is what being a 'sponsor' means, wafanye kazi yao.

They also pay themselves with the UNCLAIMED BENEFITS of those deported....those who never get citizenship after years and years of holding permanent residency and never get citizenship...and all those illegals and green card holders who buy taxed goods and services. Wezi tu

2nd colonialism at it's best - these people don't even find their embassies abroad - they make lots of money from the so called Visa application fees for visas that are never issued! For example 200 people visit the embassy in Kenya every day yet only 10-50 get approvals yet each one of them has to pay the non refundable fees. Looting from the 3rd world countries is ongoing but since our politicians are busy stealing too, no one can speak up

How does this help USCIS process the 4 million applications sitting on desks in DC. The Trump administration is so focused on Mexico and the border wall they've ignored their responsibilities to do things in a timely manner. I'm a native born citizen descended from the Mayflower waiting TWO YEARS for a fiancee visa. Trump is ruining all levels of the Federal Government. Just wait until you need some kind of help. Don't expect Donnie or his flunkies to care about you!
